So, I have been completely not paying attention to diet or exercise since the tour/move. I’ve just been living. Apparently, continuing to lose weight. Excited to start running again soon so I can feel stronger :)

Oh, hello, you fine folks.
So, it’s official. I’ve been on tour over a week. Shows are awesome. People are awesome. Life is pretty good! I’m sure I’ll have tons of pictures and lovely things to say about all of that soon. Tonight I wanted to talk about what it’s like to try to be healthy on tour.
It’s kind of the hardest thing. Ever. Okay, so probably some things in the world that are infinitely harder…but, this is up there for sure. I find it hard to be consistent with good food choices when I’m traveling. You go to so many cities that all have so many delicious things. You finish shows at midnight and want to eat all of the bad things. You don’t have your own kitchen or groceries or way of preparing food. It’s all such a fail.
I’m trying to be better with that. Honest. I had a turkey burger yesterday. I’m sure I win something for that.
In the meantime, I’ve been trying to at least get in some physical exercise every day. We’re staying in hotels, so I’ve become close friends with the hotel gym. This is a place I probably…never have gone in the past. Hotels are a whole new world for me now. You can workout here. You can do laundry. Who in the hell knew.
Now, I’m not running as much as I have been at home. But, to be fair in the weeks leading up to tour I struggled finding the time to run at all. It has been all about getting back into it. Also…I’ve become a big fan of running OUTSIDE and at NIGHT. Neither of those things has really been possible out on the road. So, to the treadmill I go.
My personal challenge for this week is to run a mile every day. It won’t be easy. I’ll be missing much needed sleep for it. But, it will be worth it.
ALSO, exciting development of the week: I was excited about running a 12:24 mile yesterday. Today I got down to an 11:26 mile. Last year, I could barely walk a mile and certainly would never choose to try. Everything seems like a bit of a baby step until I look back and see how far I’ve come in a year.
And, for those of you on twitter asking how I get through the run?
Listening to a lot of Childish Gambino and thinking of cute boys. Honestly. It works.
